HMO Exchange Data |
Purpose |
HMO Data Exchange in ALERT IIS is a tool that is used to designate the type of "Electronic File format" the HMO provider organizationwants to use to send data to the ALERT IIS.
Information Provided |
A provider can choose between 2 data types of electronic file formats: Flat File and HL-7:
Exchange Data Settings |
Any provider organization wanting to exchange data with ALERT IIS must first call the state immunization program to set up a data exchange request.
Provider Organization is not set up to exchange data- If a Provider Organization has not been set up to exchange data this screen will display a message stating 'Please contact ALERT IIS staff to set up data exchange setting for your organization.'
Pending Exchange Data- Provider Organizations can only run 1 data exchange job at a time. If a Provider Organization tries to run a data exchange job while one is already running for the Provider Organization then a message will display on this screen stating 'Processing has not completed for previous data exchange.'
Data Types |
Flat File Format: Immunization data is passed to the central ALERT IIS using three flat files containing Patient, Immunization (optional), and Comment information (optional) respectively.
HL-7 File Format: The ANSI HL7 standard is widely used for data exchange in the health care industry. The CDC has worked with HL7 developers to create a set of messages that permit exchange of immunization data, that will be used for patient and immunization record exchanged between the ALERT IIS and outside systems.

Job Name |
Enter the Job Name of the Data Exchange job that is being submitted to the system. If not specified today's date will be used. |
Patient File Name |
Patient File Name is a required field. Enter the file path for the Patient File on the users computer. |
Immunization File Name |
Enter the file path for the Immunization File on the users computer. |
Comment File Name |
Enter the file path for the Comment File on the users computer. |

Functionality HL7 File |
